La Tania Ski Resort – The Secret Of The 3 Valleys

La Tania

La Tania is located right at the centre of the 3 valleys, nestled in the heart of a magnificent forest.

It is a family friendly pedestrian ski resort in the Courchevel valley just 25 minutes drive from Moutiers, which is the access point to the 3 valleys. The resort sits at a height of 1400 meters and is the youngest among the other ski resorts within the valley.

La Tania was developed for the 1992 Albertville Olympics and features six timber-clad apartment blocks in the traffic free resort joined by smaller chalet style developments retaining the valleys peaceful and breathtaking natural beauty.

The purpose built ski resort is very contemporary and practical by design with most accommodation being ski in ski out centred around the snow front. Since La Tania is the most wooded area of the 3 valleys, developments were done in accordance with the environmental protection requirement which has earned them the Green Resort Award.

La Tania is the only ski resort in the Three Valleys with a wooded ski area and links to the rest of the valleys easily. The 3 valleys offer a wide range of ski runs that are maintained nightly by 80 piste grooming machines. With the minimum altitude for skiing being 1300 meters and the maximum being 3230 meters, a huge 85% of the ski area is located above 1800 meters, however La Tania does what it does best, to provide skiers with an attractive and affordable base where they can explore the highly and immaculately groomed terrain of the largest ski area in the world.

The ski resort is equipped to accommodate all levels of skiers, right from beginners, intermediate to experts.  A gondola lift from the village leads up to the slopes with the nursery slope at the doorstep. The slopes just above La Tania are wooded and ideal for skiing during bad weather. A little further up this area you will find open slopes. From the main gondola, skiers can take chairlifts or draglifts to go higher up to Courchevel or over to Meribel.

The 3 valleys are well known for skier’s safety and the technology used at the resort has made it the best equipped resort in the world. Children can benefit from the Magnestick lift system where magnets are used to hold a specially designed child’s vest to the chairlifts. Adults can benefit from the new Magnestick Bar, the universal safety locking system which locks automatically once the handle is pulled down and unlocks automatically once you reach the station.
