The season is now looming and all the Ski Magic staff are now packing up their skis, boards and boots to head on over to La Tania for the staff training. Val Thorens is now open. Courchevel 1850 opens on 4th December and La Tania on the 11th.

A blanket of snow has covered La Tania and Courchevel overnight and more is forecast for the week ahead. Fantastic for the fast approaching winter season.

BA is to start a new service this winter between London City airport and Chambery, the gateway to the French Alps. The service is to run from December 18th to the end of March 2011.  Chambery is the nearest airport to La Tania and the Three Valleys at just over an hour.

Well, the first week of the season is almost over and guests have seen links over to the Three Valleys open but very quiet slopes though it has been very cold, down to -14C which has meant that the snow cannons have been running daily to keep the snow on the lower runs topped up.  Good conditions have been reported for the time of year and it is looking good for Christmas week when many more slopes will open. Snow is forecast for today , Friday and it is supposed to be getting slightly warmer after the weekend with more snow forecast.

La Tania is now largely up and running and all the bars, shops and restaurants are now open and looking forward to a very busy couple of weeks over Christmas and New Year.  There will be many organised events and activities in the village.  Watch this space for more info.

Courchevel and La Tania’s neighbour, Meribel is hosting one of the biggest events in the French Alps this winter.  The Little World Festival will take place in Meribel between 13th and 19th March 2010 and is offering a line up of over 40 live events including gigs from The Feeling, Sophie Ellis-Bexter, Glenn Tillbrook of Squeeze fame, Fictonplane, Sinead and the Dawnbreakers, Graham Gouldman from 10cc, the Langley Sisters, Duke, comedian Ed Harcourt and many more to be announced over the fortcoming weeks.

Tickets are available on the Little World website now for 25euros.  A VIP ticket for 90euros is also available which allows entrance to all events(subject to maximum capacities).

As the start of the new season fast approaches, the Ski Magic UK office is preparing to move out to France. Our staff, both new and some  old hands are all packing up their skis and boards to move on over to La Tania ready to embark on their training for the coming Winter season.

The weather is turning colder and heavy snow is forecast over the coming weekend.

Lifts open in Courchevel 1850 and Meribel on 5th December and in Courchevel 1650, 1550, Le Praz and La Tania on 12th December. Our first guests arrive in La Tania on 12th December to enjoy the quiet pistes and to take advantage of the reduced price lift passes and cheap accommodation on offer for this week. Courchevel Tourism’s head of marketing and promotion, Veronique Beulz, announced this week that Courchevel will host a Dali exhibition this winter.  She said “People will come to see the amazing sculptures and that Courchevel will host a number of events this winter including polo tournaments, an ice skating gala and firework displays and competitions from countries around the world. Dates of events will follow in future blogs.

A new family park under the Verdons gondola in Courchevel 1850 is being created for this season.  The Plantrey Snow Park is being moved to the Dunes and Canyons area between Verdons and Renards pistes and is to create a larger entertainment area for both skiers and boarders which is highly visible from the gondola.  The project is to be completed over several seasons but will include hoops, boarder, jumps, the Avalanche Park plus lots more.
